C7 On-Highway Engine Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the valve mechanism cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install".
2. Remove the fuel injection line for the injector that is being serviced. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Lines - Remove and Install".

Note: The quill tube must be removed in order to remove the unit injector.

1. Remove quill tube (1) . Remove O-ring seal (2) from quill tube (1) .

2. Disconnect harness assembly (5) . Remove socket head bolt (3) from unit injector (4) .

3. Position Tooling (A) under unit injector clamp (6) . Carefully remove unit injector (4) from the cylinder head.

Note: Do not use a wire brush on the tip of the unit injector. Damage to the unit injector will occur.

4. Remove O-ring seal (7) and O-ring seal (8) from unit injector (4) .
