Transmission, SPN 168 - FMI 3
Conditions Which Generate This Code:
This diagnostic trouble code is recorded when the ECU for the transmission system identifies a system voltage that is above 32 VDC. This diagnostic trouble code can only be activated when the engine is running. The code will latch until the conditions for a reset have been met. The code will not become active while the engine is OFF. If the code is active, the charging system is charging at an excessive rate.
The possible causes of this diagnostic trouble code are listed:
- Improper operation of voltage regulator
The most probable cause of this code is a problem with the charging system.

Check the charging system.
Results:
- YES - Perform the test for the charging system.
Repair: Refer to the charging system test in the troubleshooting manual for the engine that is being serviced.
