Description of Change: An improved front gear housing assembly is used in the engine front housing group of the above machines. The housing assembly has a hole through a large boss on the lower left side. Formerly, a cup plug was used to seal this hole and it was possible for this cup plug to leak.
The improved housing assembly has two tapped holes in the large boss and uses a gasket, cover and two bolts and washers to seal this hole. This will help eliminate leakage in the housing assembly.
Adaptable To: The improved 2W2834 Front Gear Housing Assembly is a direct replacement for the former housing assembly. The part number did not change.
Former housing assemblies (with the cup plug) can be modified if leakage does occur. Order the parts in the chart and use the following procedure to modify earlier housing assemblies.
Modification Procedure For An Earlier 2W2834 Housing Assembly
1. Use the 4N4217 Plate as a template to mark the location of the two holes that need to be drilled in the housing. See the illustration.
2. Drill two 6.8 mm (.266") diameter holes.
3. Tap the holes 15 mm (.6") deep with a 5/16"-18 tap.
4. Install the gasket and plate with the bolts and washers.
