Service Magazine SEPD0697-00, 25 August 2003, "A New Solid Retaining Ring Replaces The Spiral Lock Ring in the Transmission Clutches". This article replaces the previous article.

Description of Change: A new solid retaining ring is now used to retain the clutch packs in the transmission. The former spiral lock ring could come out of the groove. This would damage the clutch and the transmission.

Adaptable To: The new 236-2541 Retaining Ring is a direct replacement for the 9U-9797 Retaining Ring and the 234-4396 Retaining Ring. The 234-4396 Retaining Ring has been cancelled. This ring was used in the second speed clutch of the 230-3665 Clutch Group .

The 236-2541 Retaining Ring is used in the forward high and forward low clutches of the 230-3664 Clutch Group. The new retaining ring is used for the reverse clutch and the second speed clutch of the 230-3665 Clutch Group. Also, the new retaining ring is used in the third speed clutch for the 197-3260 Clutch Group .

The new 236-2541 Retaining Ring is effective with machines in Table 1. The 236-2541 Retaining Ring is adaptable to the machines that are listed.
