Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
The machine must be level, the parking brake engaged and the engine stopped.
- Remove the used filter elements with a strap-type wrench. Discard the used filter elements.

- Clean the filter mounting base. Be sure all of the old seal is removed.
- Lubricate the sealing surface of the new filter elements with clean hydraulic oil.
- Install the new filter elements by hand. Tighten the filters until the seal contacts the base. Tighten the filters an additional 3/4 of a turn.
Note: There are rotation index marks on each filter, spaced 90 degrees (1/4 turn) apart. Use these marks as a guide when tightening the filter.
- Start the engine and run the engine at low idle. Check for leaks.
- When the dump body is fully lowered, maintain the hydraulic oil level above the "ADD COLD" mark in upper sight gauge (1). When the dump body is fully raised maintain the hydraulic oil level above the "ADD COLD" mark in lower sight gauge (2) .

- Remove hydraulic tank filler cap (3) and add hydraulic oil, if necessary.
- Stop the engine.
