Two New High Speed Marine Transmissions Can Be Used With 3500 Series Engines{3302,3306,3351}

Usage:

7251 Marine Transmissions ( 4GB ),
7261 Marine Transmissions ( 6LB)

The new 7251 (4GB) and 7261 (6LB) High Speed Marine Transmissions are available for use with 3500 Series Engines. The new high speed marine transmissions are rated at speeds up to 1600 rpm. The 7251 and 7261 Low Speed Marine Transmissions (74E and 89B), respectively, are for engines rated at speeds up to 1300 rpm.

A new clutch group is used in the high speed marine transmissions. The new clutch group is made from different, stronger materials than the clutch group in low speed marine transmissions. It also has 18 studs (instead of 12) for increased strength at higher speeds.

Other improvements have increased serviceability of the high speed marine transmissions.

NOTICE

To avoid damage to an engine and/or marine transmission, the following precautions must be observed.

1. Always check the Serial Number before repair or installation of a 7251 or 7261 Marine Transmission.

2. Do not install a 7251 (74E) or 7261 (89B) Low Speed Marine Transmission on an engine rated at more than 1300 rpm.

3. Check the Serial Number for the correct prefix before installation of direct exchange components (top shaft assembly).

4. Use only the 6T3458 Clutch Group for high speed (over 1300 RPM) applications. The 6T3458 Clutch Group can be identified by the 18 studs used to assemble the clutch group. The low speed clutch group is assembled with 12 studs.
