Note: O-ring seals, gaskets, and seals should always be replaced. A used O-ring may not have the same sealing properties as a new O-ring seal. A reconditioning procedure should not be degraded because of a low cost component such as an O-ring seal or a gasket. Use 1U-6396 O-Ring Assembly Compound during the assembly procedure.
- Install three O-ring seals (8).

Personal injury or death can result from lifting a heavy assembly.
The heavy assembly can fall if using an incorrect hoist to lift the load.
Be sure the hoist has the correct capacity to lift a heavy assembly. Approximate weight of the assembly is given below.
Note: The weight of the final drive, differential, and brake assembly is
850 kg (1875 lb) . - Use tool (B), a hoist, and tool (C) to position the steering differential. See Illustration 1 for the correct orientation.
- Install the following items as an assembly: final drive, steering differential and brake.
- Position the assembly
25 mm (1 inch) from the case.Show/hide tableIllustration 2 g00619173 - Use tool (C) to rotate the final drive flange clockwise to the correct orientation.

Illustration 3 g00619176 - Install nineteen bolts and washers (5) and install two bolts and washers (7).
- Use bolts (5) and (7) to pull the assembly to the case.
- Remove tool (C).
- Install seven bolts and washers (10) in the final drive flange.
- Remove tool (B).
- Apply SAE 30W oil to the threads of the sprocket segment bolts.
- Install the bolts, the nuts, and the washers in the segment.
- Tighten the nuts to a torque of
300 ± 50 N·m (221 ± 37 lb ft) . Tighten the nuts by another 1/3 turn. The final torque must be a minimum of570 N·m (420 lb ft) .Show/hide tableIllustration 4 g00619136 - Install O-ring seal (3) on adapter (2) for the steering motor.

Illustration 5 g00619134 - Install the adapter in the main case.
- Install six bolts (1) in adapter (2).
- Tighten six bolts (1) to a torque of
47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft) .
