Cooling Fan Is Always ON

Usage:

C15 B5R

Check the Operation of the Cooling Fan

  1. Establish communication between the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) and the Engine Control Module (ECM). Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tools", if necessary.

  2. Check the value of the "Fan Control Type" configuration parameter.

    If the parameter is programmed to "None", the ECM is not controlling the cooling fan. Refer to the troubleshooting information for the chassis in order to troubleshoot the cooling fan.

    If the parameter is not programmed to "None", the ECM is controlling the cooling fan. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Cooling Fan Control - Test" in order to troubleshoot the cooling fan.
