Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the fan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan - Remove and Install" in this module.

1. Remove the spring tension on belt tightener (1). Use a suitable wrench on the square section of the belt tightener to move belt tightener (1) to the right.

2. Remove three V-belts (2) .

3. Loosen two bolts (6) that are under alternator (4) .

4. Loosen two adjusting nuts (5) and remove belt (3) .

5. Remove four bolts (9) from pulley (8) .

6. Remove pulley (8) from the crankshaft.

Note: The vibration damper weighs 25 kg (55 lb).

7. Attach a hoist and a nylon strap to vibration damper (7) .

8. Remove six bolts (10) from vibration damper (7) .

9. Remove vibration damper (7) from the crankshaft.

Installation Procedure

Note: The vibration damper weighs 25 kg (55 lb).

1. Use a hoist and a nylon strap in order to install vibration damper (7) on the crankshaft.

2. Install six bolts (10) in vibration damper (7) .

3. Install pulley (8) on the crankshaft.

4. Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound to the threads of four bolts (9) .

5. Install four bolts (9) in pulley (8) .

6. Install belt (3) on alternator (4) and tighten two adjusting nuts (5) .

   Reference: Refer to Testing and Adjusting, SENR1028, "Belt Tightening Chart" for the correct adjustment of the tension on the V-belt.

7. Tighten two bolts (6) under alternator (4) .

8. Install three V-belts (2) .

9. Set the spring tension on belt tightener (1). Use a suitable wrench on the square section of the belt tightener in order to move belt tightener (1) to the left.

   Note: Replace the belts in sets only, if one or more belts are worn or damaged.

End By: Install the fan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan - Remove and Install" in this module.
