D10R, D11R and D11R Carrydozer Track-Type Tractors Implement Electronic Control System Caterpillar

MID 082 - CID 0596 - FMI 12

Usage:

D11R 7PZ
Conditions Which Generate This Code:

This diagnostic code is recorded when the controls active test has failed. The possible cause of the failure is listed:

  • A signal is being received from the blade control handle or the ripper control handle during the controls active test.

System Response:

The possible machine response is listed:

  • A possible loss of some implement functions.

Note: Other diagnostic codes that are related may be present. Perform any of these related diagnostic codes first.

Test Step 1. CHECK THE CONTROLS.

  1. Check that the blade control handle is in the HOLD (centered) position.

  1. Check that the ripper control handle is in the HOLD (centered) position.

  1. View the status of the diagnostic code.

Expected Result:

The diagnostic code is NO longer active.

Results:

  • OK - The diagnostic code is NO longer active. Resume normal machine operation. Watch for a recurrence.STOP

  • NOT OK - The diagnostic code remains active. Proceed to test step 2.

Test Step 2. PERFORM CALIBRATION.

  1. Perform the calibration procedure for the blade control handle and the ripper contol handle. See Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" .

  1. All calibration procedures have been completed.

  1. View the status of the diagnostic code.

Expected Result:

The diagnostic code is NO longer active.

Results:

  • OK - The diagnostic code is no longer active. Resume normal machine operation.STOP

  • NOT OK - The diagnostic code remains present. Proceed to test step 3.

Test Step 3. CHECK FOR A SHORT IN THE HARNESS.

  1. Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  1. Disconnect the blade control handle.

  1. Disconnect the ripper control handle.

  1. Disconnect the J1 and J2 connectors from the implement ECM.

  1. At the J1 connector, measure the resistance from contact J1-3 (wire H711-GN) to all other J1 and J2 contacts. Repeat the same measurement for the following contacts: J1-16 (wire H710-PK), J1-30 (wire N936-YL), J1-31 wire (N935-OR), J1-21 (wire N937-PU), J1-47 (wire J991-OR), J1-46 (wire J996-BR), J1-56 (wire J943-GN), J1-57 (wire J944-BU), J1-45 (wire J945-WH), J1-44 (wire J946-OR), J1-44 (wire J946-OR), J1-25 (wire J947-YL), J1-54 (wire J929-YL), J1-55 (wire J930-PK) and J1-15 (wire J948-PK).

Expected Result:

Each resistance measurement should be greater than 5000 ohms.

Results:

  • YES - Each measurement is greater than 5000 ohms. The harness is correct. The diagnostic code has not been corrected.

Repair: It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Exit this procedure and perform this CID FMI again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace".

    STOP

  • NO - There is a short in the harness.

Repair: The short is between the circuit with the low resistance measurement and the wire that is being tested. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.

    STOP
