Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Loosen the hose clamps on hose (1) and remove hose (1) .

  1. Remove clamp (3) that secures pipe (2) to pipe (4) .

  1. Disconnect pipe (2) and remove pipe (2) .

  1. Loosen clamp (6) that secures pipe (4) into hose (5) .

  1. Remove nuts (8) from studs on exhaust manifold elbow (9) .

  1. Remove turbocharger (7) from exhaust manifold elbow (9) .

  1. Remove bolts (10) from turbocharger (7) .

  1. Remove pipe (4) and remove the pipe's gasket (not shown) from turbocharger (7) .

  1. Remove gasket (11) from exhaust manifold elbow (9) .
