Installation Procedure

1. Clean both mating surfaces of the differential and the axle housing.

2. Apply a continuous bead of 1U-8846 Sealant to the axle housing.

3. Install two M12 x 1.25 bolts (1) .

4. Install tooling (A) with two M12 x 1.5 bolts and nuts.

5. Install the differential assembly with a suitable lifting device. The weight of the differential assembly is 29.4 kg (65 lb).

6. Remove tooling (A). Remove two bolts (1) .

7. Install ten bolts and washers (2). The torque for bolts (2) is 169 N·m (124 lb ft).

8. Install shaft assembly (3) .

9. Using tooling (B) and a suitable press install seal (4) .

10. Install thrust washer (5). Heat inner bearing (6) to 130°C (265°F) and drop in place.

11. Apply a continuous bead of 1U-8846 Sealant to mating surface of housing (8). Install housing (8) with six bolts (7) .

End By:

1. Install hydrostatic drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydrostatic Drive - Install".
2. Install the planetary assemblies. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Planetary - Install".
