Tire and Rim - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".

Personal injury can result working with the tire and rim without precautions.

Personal injury can result if the weight shifts and causes movement of the tire and rim.

When starting nuts on the studs, do not put your arm between the rim and final drive without first wedging a block of oak between the rim and final drive.

  1. Raise the machine with a suitable lifting device. Support the machine with Tooling (A) .

  1. Support the tire and rim (2), as shown. Remove eight nuts (1). Remove tire and rim (2). The combined weight of the tire and of the rim is 95 kg (210 lb).

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the tire and rim (2), as shown. Install eight nuts (1). The initial torque for nuts (1) is 240 ± 40 N·m (177 ± 30 lb ft). Then turn nuts (1) by an additional 60 ± 5 degrees.

  1. Raise the machine with a suitable lifting device. Remove tooling (a) .

End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
