Pressure compensator valve (1) helps to regulate the output pressure of cushion-hitch piston pump (2) .
When the engine is running and the output pressure of the cushion-hitch piston pump (2) is less than the setting of pressure compensator valve (1) , pressure compensator valve (1) signals cushion-hitch piston pump (2) to increase the output pressure.
Hydraulic oil from the outlet opening of cushion-hitch piston pump (2) flows into passage (4) of pressure compensator valve (1) .
When the engine is running and the output pressure of cushion-hitch piston pump (2) is less than the setting of pressure compensator valve (1) , hydraulic pressure in passage (4) is low. Initially, pressure compensator spool (3) prevents hydraulic oil from flowing from passage (4) into passage (5) . Initially, the force of spring (6) prevents the movement of pressure compensator spool (3) toward setscrew (7) . This lack of flow through passage (5) signals cushion-hitch piston pump (2) to increase the output pressure.
The output pressure of cushion-hitch piston pump (2) increases. The pressure in passage (4) increases until the hydraulic pressure on pressure compensator spool (3) overcomes the force of spring (6) . Pressure compensator spool (3) moves toward setscrew (7) .
After pressure compensator spool (3) moves a sufficient distance toward setscrew (7) , hydraulic oil flows from passage (4) into passage (5) . This hydraulic oil flows to the control piston of cushion-hitch piston pump (2) . This control piston moves the swashplate of cushion-hitch piston pump (2) to a minimum angle. Cushion-hitch piston pump (2) maintains an output pressure of approximately 16 000 kPa (2320 psi) .
If the output pressure of cushion-hitch pump (2) decreases, the oil pressure decreases in passage (4) . Spring (6) moves pressure compensator spool (3) away from setscrew (7) . The flow from passage (4) into passage (5) is stopped by pressure compensator spool (3) . Hydraulic pressure to the control piston decreases to zero. This control piston activates cushion-hitch piston pump (2) to again increase output pressure.
Note: The hydraulic pressure in passage (4) that can move pressure compensator spool (3) is approximately 16 000 kPa (2320 psi). This hydraulic pressure is the specified pressure setting of pressure compensator valve (1) . Use setscrew (7) to adjust pressure compensator valve (1) to the specified setting.
