Start By:

  1. Remove the transmission oil cooler and the auxiliary oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oil Cooler (Transmission, Auxiliary) - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

  1. Disconnect tube assemblies (1) and (2) .

  1. Disconnect tube assemblies (3) and (4) .

  1. Disconnect hoses (5) , (6) , and (7) .

  1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to heat exchanger (8) .

  1. Remove bolts (9) .

  1. Remove bolts (10) . Remove heat exchanger (8) . The weight of heat exchanger (8) is approximately 51 kg (112 lb).
