A New Solenoid Provides Better Starting Conditions {1259}

Usage:

3034 7EF
Engines:
3034 (S/N: 7EF1-UP; CPP1-UP)

Description of Change: The above listed engines have had intermittent starting problems due to overheating fuel shutoff solenoids. Overheating eventually results in an open circuit condition. Replace the solenoid if an open circuit condition occurs.

Fuel shutoff solenoid

Adaptable To: The 172-7209 Solenoid is a direct replacement for the former 160-6376 Solenoid. The former 160-6376 Solenoid is no longer available for service. The 172-7209 Solenoid is adaptable to all 3034 engines and the new solenoid is effective in production with the serial number S/N:3NW27464-UP
. Refer to your Disassembly and Assembly manual for removal and installation instructions of the fuel shutoff solenoid.

Note: Even after a solenoid is replaced with a new part, caution should be used. The fuel shutoff solenoid is subject to failure if the engine is cranked for prolonged periods such as priming the fuel system after changing a fuel filter. Avoid this practice by using the mechanical priming pump on the engine. See your Operation and Maintenance Manual for appropriate starting instructions.
