C7 Engines for Combat and Tactical Vehicles Caterpillar

Data Link Parameters

Usage:

C7 FML

"Powertrain Data Link"

This parameter must be programmed to "J1939" in order to receive any switch inputs from the "J1939" data link. This parameter determines if the Engine Control Module (ECM) will communicate to a power train component through the J1939 data link. If the vehicle is not using the data link for communication to the power train systems, program this parameter to "None". The following systems are examples of power train systems:

  • Traction control systems

  • Anti-lock brake systems

  • Electronically controlled transmissions

Note: A 231-11 J1939 Data Link Fault will occur if the parameter for the power train data link is set to J1939 without a J1939 power train ECM on the vehicle. The J1939 power train ECM is used to communicate with the engine ECM.
