    NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Note: Inspect the vibration damper for leaks and dents. If either condition exists, replace the vibration damper.

  1. Thoroughly clean the following parts: the bore of the pulley, tapered rings, spacer and nose of the crankshaft.

Note: Do not use a degreaser on the parts.

  2. Install spacer (5), the inner tapered ring (4), and the outer tapered ring (3) on crankshaft pulley (7).

Note: The tapered rings must be aligned correctly for proper installation. Do not align the gaps of the tapered rings.

Note: Do not expand the tapered rings.

  3. Install the key on the crankshaft. Align the crankshaft pulley and the key on the crankshaft. Push the pulley onto the crankshaft.

  4. Install O-ring seal (1) on thrust block (2). Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.

  5. Lubricate the threads and the shoulder of bolts (8). Position the thrust block and install bolts (8). Tighten the bolts evenly to a final torque of 115 N·m (85 lb ft).

  6. Position crankshaft vibration damper (6) so that the bolt holes align with pulley (7) and the crankshaft.

  7. Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (9) that fasten the vibration damper to the crankshaft. Install bolts (9). Tighten the bolts evenly to a final torque of 78 N·m (58 lb ft).

End By:

  1. Install the V-Belts. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "V-Belts - Remove and Install".
