PROBLEM
The dead engine shuttle valve needs to be inspected and possibly replaced on the products listed below. On the affected models, the valve does not perform properly and the implements (blade/ripper) cannot be lowered to the ground with the engine stopped. The suspended implements may cause personal injury if they drop to the ground suddenly. You will not be charged for the service performed.AFFECTED PRODUCT

Inspect all of the machines within the serial number range. If the 2-digit alpha code on the end of the 6E3373 shuttle valve is greater than AD, for instance, AE through BH, then replace the valve with a new 2126024 valve. The new 2126024 valve will have a date stamp BH or later, and the supplier part number will be K2A060N539.OWNER NOTIFICATION

The dead engine shuttle valve needs to be inspected and possibly replaced on the products listed below. On the affected models, the valve does not perform properly and the implements (blade/ripper) cannot be lowered to the ground with the engine stopped. Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated November 22, 2001 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
PROCEDURE (Ref. Media Number RENR2049-01)
- Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from machines that are working. Move away from personnel. Lower all implements to the ground.
- Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel away from the machine.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Stop the engine.
- Move the hydraulic control levers to all positions in order to release the pressure in the hydraulic system.
- Carefully loosen the filler cap on the hydraulic tank in order to release the pressure.
- Make sure that all of the hydraulic pressure is released before any fittings, hoses, or components are loosened. Make sure that the pressure in the accumulator is released as well.
- Tighten the filler cap on the hydraulic tank.
- The pressure in the system has now been released and lines or components can be removed.
- Turn ignition key ON (Do Not restart engine).
- Remove the floor plates from the machine.
- Open 1625239 Machine Off Implement Lower Valve.
- Cycle all controls a minimum of twelve times.
- Turn ignition key OFF
- Remove 6E3373 shuttle valve
- Replace with 2126024 shuttle valve
- Close 1625239 Machine Off Implement Lower Valve
- Replace the floor plates.
