PROBLEM
The powertrain charge pressure hose from the charge pump to the right hand hydraulic motor needs to be inspected on certain 953C Track Type Loaders. If the clip that holds the hose to the splitter box is not oriented properly, the hose may be damaged by rubbing against the Right hand motor drain tube, resulting in hose failure.AFFECTED PRODUCT

MODELS INVOLVED - 953C Track Type Loaders
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The powertrain charge pressure hose from the charge pump to the right hand hydraulic motor needs to be inspected on certain 953C Track Type Loaders. If the clip that holds the hose to the splitter box is not oriented properly, the hose may be damaged by rubbing against the Right hand motor drain tube, resulting in hose failure. A new hose assembly may need to be installed on the products listed below. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated November 15, 2001 date when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.
- Remove the front and the rear bottom guards.
- Check if the 8D9671 Clip is correctly oriented (see Illustration 2, 3, 4 and 5) and if the hose is damaged.
- Replace the hose only if damaged and fix the clip in the right position (see Illustrations 2, 3, 4 and 5).
- Install the bottom guards.
- Check the oil level and add oil as required.
