Note: SERVICE DATA: TOOLING (ZZ) WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN.

Note: Put identification marks on all hose assemblies and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and tube assemblies. This helps prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Disconnect tube assembly (11).

  2. Disconnect tube (7).

  3. Disconnect tube assembly (1), and tube assembly (2).

  4. Remove fuel filter (9).

  5. Remove plug (10).

  6. Remove banjo bolt (6). Remove washers (5) and connector (4) from the fuel filter base.

  7. Remove bolts (3).

  8. Remove fuel filter base (8).

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Position fuel filter base (8) and install bolts (3). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 44 N·m (32 lb ft).

  2. Install fuel filter (9).

  3. Connect tube assembly (1), and tube assembly (2). Tighten tube assembly (1), and tube assembly (2) to a torque of 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  4. Connect tube assembly (11). Tighten tube assembly (11) to a torque of 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  5. Install plug (10). Tighten plug (10) to a torque of 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  6. Position washers (5) and connector (4) on the fuel filter base. Install banjo bolt (6). Tighten banjo bolt (6) to a torque of 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Connect tube assembly (7).

  8. Remove the air from the fuel system. Refer to Operations and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime".
