D6 TRACTOR POWER TRAIN Caterpillar

start by:

a) remove hood

1. Remove the oil from the hydraulic tank.

2. Remove two hydraulic lines (1), bracket (2) and bolt (3) that hold the hydraulic tank to the lower bracket.

3. Disconnect the blade control linkage (4).

4. Disconnect two lines (6) from the hydraulic pump. Disconnect two lines (7). Remove the tilt control linkage (8).

5. Remove bracket (5) and bolt (9) that hold the hydraulic tank to the lower bracket.

6. Remove two bolts (10) that hold the hydraulic tank to the support.

7. Remove two bolts from the hydraulic tank and install two top brackets.

8. Fasten a hoist to the hydraulic tank. Weight of the hydraulic tank is 240 lb. (109 kg). Remove the hydraulic tank.

Install Hydraulic Tank

1. Fasten a hoist to the hydraulic tank. Put the hydraulic tank (1) in position on the support. Install the two top brackets on the hydraulic tank.

2. Install two bolts (2) that hold the hydraulic tank to the support.

3. Install the two bolts (5) that hold the hydraulic tank to the lower bracket.

4. Connect the two lines to the blade control cylinders.

5. Connect the two lines (3) to the hydraulic pump.

6. Connect the tilt control linkage (4).

7. Connect the blade control linkage (8).

8. Install the two hydraulic lines (6).

9. Install the two bolts (7) that hold the hydraulic tank to the lower bracket.

10. Fill the hydraulic tank with oil to the correct level with oil. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.
