(1) Large bolts
(2) Small bolts
(3) Cylinder Head
Use the following procedure to install the cylinder head bolts (1) and (2) :
- Use 6V-4876 Lubricant to lubricate the threaded portion of the bolts and both sides of each washer prior to assembly.
- Tighten the large bolts (1). Refer to the torque sequence that is shown in Illustration 1.
Tighten the large bolts to the following torque. ... 300 ± 15 N·m (221 ± 11 lb ft)
- Loosen all of the previously tightened large bolts (1) to 0 N·m (0 lb ft).
- Tighten the large bolts (1). Refer to the torque sequence that is shown in Illustration 1.
Tighten the large bolts to the following torque. ... 130 ± 15 N·m (96 ± 11 lb ft)
- Tighten the large bolts (1) again. Use the same torque sequence and the same torque setting.
Tighten the large bolts to the following torque. ... 130 ± 15 N·m (96 ± 11 lb ft)
- Place an index mark on all of the large bolts (1). Tighten each of the large bolts for an additional 1/4 turn. Refer to the torque sequence that is shown in Illustration 1.
Tighten the large bolts in a clockwise direction. ... 90 degrees (1/4 turn)
- Tighten the small bolts (2) to the specified torque. Refer to the torque sequence that is shown in Illustration 1.
Tighten the small bolts to the following torque. ... 55 ± 7 N·m (41 ± 5 lb ft)

(4) The installation depth (C) of the cup plug is measured from the face of the cylinder head to the top edge of the plug. Depth of installation ... 1.25 ± 0.25 mm (0.049 ± 0.010 inch)
(5) Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to the first three threads of the plugs. Tighten the plugs to the following torque. ... 184 ± 18 N·m (136 ± 13 lb ft)

Location of the socket setscrew (oil supply orifice) |
(7) Tighten the socket setscrew (oil supply orifice) to a torque of 47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft). If you are installing a new socket setscrew (oil supply orifice), sealing compound has already been applied to the new part.
The new 154-8025 Socket Setscrew and the former 142-7290 Socket Setscrew (oil supply orifice) may be reused. If you are installing a used socket setscrew (oil supply orifice), apply 154-9731 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the socket setscrew (oil supply orifice) prior to installation. Tighten the socket setscrew (oil supply orifice) to a torque of 47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft).
