Higher Torque Specification is Now Used on the Swing Gear and Bearing Bolts for Certain 305.5E and 306E Mini Hydraulic Excavators {7063} Caterpillar

Description Of Change: A higher torque specification is now used on the swing gear and bearing for certain machines listed above.

Adaptable To: The torque specification for the new 447-1708 Bolt is 240 ± 40 N·m (177 ± 30 lb ft). The higher torque specification is effective with, and adaptable to, the machines listed in Table 1.

If the bolts for the swing gear and bearing become loose and/or broken, the result can be noisy operation from the swing gear area when operating the swing function. If the operator continues to use the swing function, damage to the bearing and swing drive can occur. Refer to Special Instruction, M0067490 for the inspection and rework procedure for the swing bearing bolted joint.
