Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install

Usage:

324E JCZ

Removal Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment.

To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.

Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.

  1. Turn battery disconnect switch (1) to the OFF position.

  1. Remove guard assemblies (2) .

  1. Disconnect harness assemblies (3) and (4). Reposition harness assemblies (3) and (4) out of the way.

  1. Disconnect ground strap (5) from electric starting motor (6) .

  1. Remove nuts (7) .

  1. Remove electric starting motor (6). If a gasket is installed, remove the gasket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install in reverse order.

    Tighten M10 nuts to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

    Tighten M12 nuts to a torque of 78 N·m (58 lb ft).
