Usage:

NOTE: For procedure on how to measure for a bent crankshaft, See Guideline for Reusable Parts, SEBF8030.

(1) Maximum length of pin out of crankshaft face ... 8.4 mm (.33 in)

(2) Thrust plates for center main bearing only.

(3) End play for the crankshaft (new) ... 0.13 to 0.50 mm (.005 to .020 in)

Maximum permissible end play with used bearings ... 0.89 mm (.035 in)

(4) Minimum torque for plugs ... 23 N·m (17 lb ft)

"Stake" (make a mark with a punch) the crankshaft to hold the plug tight.

(5) Length of dowel out of the crankshaft ... 4.1 ± 0.5 mm (.16 ± .02 in)

(6) Maximum permissible temperature of the gear for installation on the crankshaft ... 205°C (400°F)

NOTE: Install gear with timing "V" mark to the outside.

(7) 2W1734 Seal Group (rear) installed on rear crankshaft gear.

(8) Make reference to Connecting Rod Bearings.

(9) Make reference to Main Bearings.

(10) 2W1733 Seal Group (front).

Remove front and rear seal groups as follows:

NOTE: Seals and wear sleeves can not be used again, after the seals and wear sleeves are separated.

a. Use the 1U7600 Puller Group to remove the seals.

b. Use the 5P7318 Distorter Group to remove the wear sleeves.

Install front and rear seal groups as follows:

a. Clean the outer surface of the crankshaft with 4C9500 Quick Cure Primer.

b. Crankshaft seals must be installed with the lip of the seal toward the inside of the engine as shown. Make sure the correct seal is installed on each end of the crankshaft. Use 2W1733 Seal Group on the front and 2W1734 Seal Group on the rear.

NOTE: No lubrication is needed to install wear sleeves and seals.

c. Do not separate seals from sleeves. Install the seal groups as a unit on each end of the engine as shown with the correct tools.
