Improved Fuel Transfer Pump For Some 3003, 3013, 3014 and 3024 Engines {1256}

Usage:

3003 3ZG
Engines:
3003 (S/N: 3ZG)
3013 (S/N: 4XD)
3024 (S/N: 4RF)

Description of Change: A new fuel transfer pump is being used on certain 3003, 3013, 3014 and 3024 Engines. The outlet of the new fuel transfer pump can be rotated in order to accommodate different applications. It may be necessary to reset the positions on a replacement pump. This may affect the length of fuel hose that is needed. Use lengths of 5P-1420 Hose as required. The original 153-6876 Lift Pump Assembly and the 153-6871 Gasket are being replaced by a new 176-7712 Fuel Transfer Pump and 176-7719 O-Ring Seal .

The new 176-7712 Fuel Transfer Pump does not have a manual priming lever. New machines that are equipped with a 176-7712 Fuel Transfer Pump will have a separate hand primer. When you replace a 153-6876 Lift Pump Assembly with a 176-7712 Fuel Transfer Pump, it will be necessary to install a separate 129-6259 Fuel Priming Pump Kit to the top of the fuel filter base. This can be seen in Illustration 2. Instructions for installation of the hand primer follow the illustrations.

Adaptable To: The new 176-7712 Fuel Transfer Pump and 176-7719 O-Ring Seal are adaptable to all models that are originally equipped with a 153-6876 Lift Pump Assembly and 153-6871 Gasket. Use the instructions that follow in order to adapt the 129-6259 Fuel Priming Pump Kit onto the original fuel filter base.

  1. Unscrew cap ring (3) that is located on filter header (12) and remove center cap (4). If the hand primer is removed, center cap (4) must be reinstalled. O-ring seal (6) must be discarded and a new O-ring seal must be used if the center cap is reinstalled.

  1. If the fuel filter base is equipped with a white volume plug (8) that is located directly behind center cap (4), remove the plug and save the plug. The plug may need to be used again if the hand primer is ever removed from the fuel filter base. If there is a mesh screen in the fuel filter base, leave the screen in position. The mesh screen will not interfere with the installation of the hand primer.

  1. Apply a thin film of oil on the O-ring seal and on valve plate (11) .

  1. Insert valve plate (11) into the fuel filter base. The valve plate must be installed with the O-ring first. Ensure that the extended rubber valve is piloted through the center hole of the header. Push valve plate (11) firmly into the correct position.

  1. Install spring (10) into valve plate (11) and place spring cap (9) on top of the spring.

  1. Install rubber diaphragm (7) into cover/plunger assembly (5). Ensure that diaphragm (7) fits firmly into the correct position. Place the assembly over spring cap (9) .

  1. Install cap ring (3) over cover/plunger assembly (5). Depress cover/plunger assembly (5) until diaphragm (7) is seated firmly onto filter header (12). Tighten cap ring (3) hand tight while the cover/plunger assembly is depressed.
