Proper Installation of Radiator Hose {1813}

Usage:

3208 30A
Engine:

Reference: Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU6367, "3208 Industrial and Generator Set Engines"

The 4P-7618 Hose can be damaged by the inner water pump V-belt. Damage may occur if the V-belt is allowed to loosen during operation. Proper installation of the hose is required in order to avoid interference with the V-belt.

Illustration 1 shows a properly installed hose. The 60 mm (2.4 inch) straight end of the hose should be connected to the water pump inlet. The 40 mm (1.6 inch) end of the hose should be connected to the lower tube of the radiator. The hose must overlap the water pump inlet by 20 mm (0.78 inch). This can be verified by taking a measurement from the end of the hose to the flat surface just above the water inlet elbow. Refer to Illustration 1. The properly installed hose should measure 36 ± 4 mm (1.4 ± 0.16 inch). The installation will give a clearance of 25 mm (0.98 inch).

Inspect the hoses in accordance with the Operation and Maintenance Manual schedule in order to maintain the hoses properly.
