The new 141-7251 Filter Connector is available for the replacement of the former 6V-9873 Connector, and the new 322-8728 Elbow is available for the replacement of the former 8T-6876 Elbow. The new connector and the new elbow are used with the 225-4558 Solenoid Valve Gp on the control system for the main hydraulic pump.

The new elbow and the new connector have a wire mesh filter. Contamination in the hydraulic system could enter the solenoid through the former elbow or the former connector. The contamination would cause a malfunction of the solenoid. The symptoms of a malfunction of the solenoid includes the following:

  • The machine performance is erratic.

  • The engine rpm is decreasing.

  • The engine rpm fails to recover.

  • The engine is stalling.

Install a new elbow or a new connector if troubleshooting the machine reveals that contamination affected the solenoid on the main hydraulic pump. The replacement of the former elbow or the former connector with a new elbow or a new connector is recommended in order to prevent a future failure of the solenoid.

The new components and the former components are listed in Table 1. The new components are effective with the models that are listed in Table 2. Use the information that follows in order to troubleshoot a machine with the symptoms that were previously listed.

Troubleshooting The Electric Circuit

Check the electric circuit for the solenoid for the power shift pressure. Make sure that the electric circuit for the solenoid for the power shift pressure is operating correctly. Replace any faulty components with new components if a problem is found. Refer to Table 3 for additional information.

Function Test

Check the function of the electric power control system. Refer to Monitoring System, RENR8068, "Device Test Mode - Power Shift Pressure" for additional information. Install a pressure gauge on the power shift pressure port. Make sure that the direct power shift pressure is correct. Make sure that the sweep test of the power shift pressure from zero to 3900 kPa (560 psi) is correct. Make sure that the output of the PS pressure on the pressure gauge is correct.

Replacement Of The Solenoid

Check the solenoid valve if the PS pressure is not correct.

Spool In The Solenoid Valve

Install a new solenoid valve if the spool is damaged. Clean the spool and reassemble the spool in the valve if the spool is not damaged. Assemble the solenoid valve on the pump. Tighten bolts (B) to a torque of 6.9 ± 1.0 N·m (61 ± 9 lb in). Make sure that the electric power control system is correctly functioning. Refer to the "Function Test" section in this document.

Installation Of A New Connector Or Elbow

Replace the 6V-9873 Connector with a new 141-7251 Filter Connector on 330D Excavators. Replace the 8T-6876 Elbow with a new 322-8728 Elbow on 345C Excavators.
