NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain".

  2. Lower access panel (1).

  3. Close fuel shutoff valve (3). Disconnect hose (2).

  4. Remove panel (4).

  5. Remove bolts (5) and step (6).

  6. Remove bolts (8) and (9). Remove hand rail (7).

  7. Attach a suitable lifting device to panel assembly (10). The weight of panel assembly (10) is approximately 73 kg (160 lb).

  8. Open side door (11). Remove bolts (12) and (13). Remove panel assembly (10).

  9. Disconnect hose (14) and harness assembly (15).

  10. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to fuel tank (16). The weight of fuel tank (16) is approximately 160 kg (353 lb).

  11. Remove bolts (17). Repeat for the other side. Remove fuel tank (16).
