Engine & Generator

Usage:

Separation Of Engine & Generator

Start By:

a. remove radiator

b. remove control panel enclosure

c. remove electric starting motor

1. Remove bolts (2) and guard (1).

2. Install Tool (A) under the generator as shown.

3. Put a piece of cardboard between stator (3) and rotor assembly (4). This step is necessary to prevent damage to the rotor assembly and stator when the generator fan is disconnected from the flywheel.

4. Remove bolts (5) that hold fan (6) to the flywheel.

5. Install Tool (B) as shown.

6. Remove bolts (7) that hold the generator housing against the flywheel housing.

7. Remove bolts (8) from the engine mounts.

8. Remove the engine from the generator.

9. Remove bolts (9) and plates (10).

10. Remove fan (6) and shims (11).


Typical Example

11. Install straps as shown and fasten a hoist. Remove bolts (12) from the generator mounts. Remove the generator. The weight of the generator is approximately 1130 kg (2500 lb).

Connection Of Engine & Generator

1. Put fan (6) in position in the generator housing. Make sure holes (12) are toward the outside as shown.

2. Install a 1/2 -10 NC × 101 mm (4 in) long guide bolt (13) in the generator hub.

3. Install plates (10) on the hub. Remove guide bolt (13) and install the bolts that hold the shims and plates in position.

4. Install a 5/8 -11 NC × 101 mm (4 in) long guide bolt in the flywheel.


Typical Example

5. Install straps as shown and fasten a hoist. Put the generator in position on the generator mounts and install bolts (12).

6. Install Tool (B) on the engine and put the engine in position.

NOTE: Use Tool (C), if necessary, to rotate the flywheel and put the guide bolt in the flywheel in alignment with the holes in the plates (10) and fan (6).

7. Install bolts (7) that hold the generator housing to the flywheel housing.

8. Install bolts (8) to the engine front mounts.

9. Remove guide bolt from the flywheel and install bolts (5).

10. Remove the piece of cardboard between stator (3) and rotor assembly (4).

11. Install guard (1) and bolts (2).

12. Remove Tool (A), Tool (B), and Tool (C).

End By:

a. install control panel enclosure

b. install radiator

c. install electric starting motor
