Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Lower the temperature of bearings (19) and (20). Use Tooling (E) to install bearings (19) and (20) .

- Attach a suitable lifting device to support (15). The weight of support (15) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).
- Position hose assemblies (12) into support (15). Position support (15). Install pin assembly (16) .
- Position the washer and shims (17). Use Tooling (C) to install retaining ring (18).

- Install pin assembly (9). Position washer (13). Use Tooling (C) to install retaining ring (14).
- Position hose assemblies (12) and bar (10). Install bolt (11) .

- Attach Tooling (A) to boom assembly (5). Attach Tooling (B) to bucket assembly (6) in order to support bucket assembly (6) .
- Support boom cylinder (7) .
- Attach a suitable lifting device to boom assembly (5). The weight of boom assembly (5) is approximately 227 kg (500 lb).
- Position boom assembly (5) .
