Note: This procedure can only be performed when the engine is removed from the base.


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Clean the gasket surface of the engine oil pan and the cylinder block. Install a new gasket (5) on engine oil pan (4) .

    Note: Check the inside of the engine oil pan in order to ensure that all of the Tooling has been removed. Ensure that there is nothing under the suction bell.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to the engine lifting brackets. The weight of the 3608 Engine is approximately 19000 kg (41900 lb). Place the engine on support blocks.

  1. Move engine oil pan (1) into position under the cylinder block. The weight of the 3608 engine oil pan is approximately 737 kg (1625 lb).

  1. Install Tooling (A) at each corner of engine oil pan (4) . Use a pallet jack in order to raise engine oil pan (4) into position.

  1. Install bolts (3) .

  1. Put the tube assembly and spacer (1) in position. Install bolts (2) .

    Note: Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil before installation.

  1. Install the clamps and bolts that hold the tube assembly to engine oil pan (4) .

End By:

  1. Remove the engine lifting brackets. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Lifting Bracket - Remove and Install".
  2. Install the prelubrication oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Prelubrication Oil Pump - Install".
