Engine Oil Pan - Remove

Usage:

3608 1ZD

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the prelubrication oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Prelubrication Oil Pump - Remove".
  2. Install the engine lifting brackets. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Lifting Bracket - Remove and Install".

Note: This procedure can only be performed when the engine is removed from the base.


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove the bolts and clamps that hold the tube assembly to engine oil pan (4) .

  1. Remove bolts (2) . Remove spacer (1) . Remove the tube assembly from engine oil pan (4) and the engine oil pump.

  1. Ensure that all connections between the cylinder block and engine oil pan (4) have been removed.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to the engine lifting brackets. The weight of the 3608 Engine is approximately 19000 kg (41900 lb). Remove bolts (3) that hold engine oil pan (4) to the cylinder block and the end covers. Remove the engine from the base.

  1. Place the engine on support blocks. The minimum height of the stands should be 671 mm (26.4 inch) for the removal of the engine oil pan.

  1. Place a pallet jack under each end of engine oil pan (4) . The weight of the 3608 engine oil pan is approximately 737 kg (1625 lb).

  1. Raise the pallet jacks in order to support engine oil pan (4) .

  1. Remove gasket (5) from engine oil pan (4) .
