Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- While the machine is in the service position and Tooling (B) supports the boom, use a proper rated lifting sling and an appropriate lifting device to position the head end of stick cylinder (1) for installation. The weight of the stick cylinder is approximately 658 kg (1450 lb).

- After installation, the maximum lateral clearance of pin assembly (7) must be 1.6 mm (0.1 inch). Install shims (5), spacer (8), and pin assembly (7) .
Note: Install the marked shims in the order that was noted during the removal procedure.
- Install the washers and retaining bolt (6) .
- Remove the plugs and the caps and connect two hose assemblies (5) to tube assemblies (4). Tighten the hose assemblies to a torque of 190 ± 20 N·m (140 ± 15 lb ft).

- Use a proper rated lifting sling and a suitable lifting device to position the rod end of stick cylinder (1), as shown.

- After installation, the maximum lateral clearance of pin assembly (3) must be 1.6 mm (0.10 inch). Install the shims, the spacer, and pin assembly (3) .

- Install the washers and retaining bolt (2) .
- Start the engine. Raise the boom enough to remove Tooling (B). Return the machine to the service position.
- Check the hydraulic system oil level in the hydraulic tank. Add oil, if necessary. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7439, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check".
