Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove fuel outlet line (1) from fuel transfer pump (3). Immediately cap all openings or plug all openings in order to prevent contamination.

  2. Cut nylon strap (2) that fastens the wiring harness to the unit injector hydraulic pump.

  3. Remove the bolts, clip (4) and fuel transfer pump (3) from the unit injector hydraulic pump.

  4. Remove O-ring seal (5) from the unit injector hydraulic pump. Inspect O-ring seal (5) for wear or damage. If the O-ring seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

  5. Remove the elbows for the fuel inlet port and the fuel outlet port from the fuel transfer pump.

  6. Remove O-ring seal (6) from the elbow. Inspect O-ring seal (6) for wear or damage. If the O-ring seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.
