NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Fasten Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to the hydraulic oil tank, as shown. Carefully position the hydraulic oil tank on the frame of the machine. The weight of the hydraulic oil tank is 145 kg (320 lb) .

  1. Apply 7M-7456 Compound to the threads of six bolts (36) . Install six bolts (36) and the spacers that hold the hydraulic oil tank in place. Tighten the six bolts to a torque of 270 ± 40 N·m (200 ± 30 lb ft) .

  1. Install clamp (35) and bolt (34) .

  1. Connect electrical connector (32) and install three tie-wraps (33) .

  1. Install hose (31) . Tighten hose clamps (30) .

  1. Install two electrical connectors (27) .

  1. Install two hose assemblies (28) and (29) .

  1. Install plate (26) . Install bolts (25) and tighten bolts (24) .

  1. Install side cover (23) and three bolts (22) .

  1. Install bolt (21) .

  1. Install front cover (20) and two bolts (19) .

  1. Install support (18) and three bolts (17) .

  1. Install two bolts (16) that secure the governor control to support (18) .

  1. Install plate (15) and two bolts (14) .

  1. Make sure that the drain plug for the hydraulic oil tank is tight. Tighten the drain plug to a torque of 68 ± 7 N·m (50 ± 5 lb ft) .

    Note: The following steps deal with the installation of the hydraulic oil filter.

  1. Fasten Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to the hydraulic oil filter, as shown. Carefully position the hydraulic oil filter and install mounting bolts (13) . The weight of the hydraulic oil filter is 22 kg (49 lb) .

  1. Install the four washers and four bolts (12) .

  1. Connect electrical connector (11) .

  1. Install the four washers and four bolts (10) that secure hydraulic oil line (9) to the filter.

  1. Install the two washers and two bolts (8) that secure filter (6) to the main hydraulic oil filter.

  1. Install the two washers and two bolts (7) that secure filter (5) to the main hydraulic filter.

  1. Position plate (4) on the machine. Install the four washers and four bolts (3) that secure plate (4) to the machine.

  1. Position plate (2) on the machine. Install two bolts (not shown) in plate (2) . Install the five washers and five bolts (1) that secure plate (2) to the machine.

  1. Fill the hydraulic oil tank to the correct level with hydraulic oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubrication Viscosities and Refill Capacities" for the correct filling procedure and the correct level for the hydraulic oil system.
