Note: After clutch has been installed on engine, hit output shaft sharply on the end to relieve any preload that may result due to resistance of pilot bearing being pressed into the flywheel.
(1) Bearing Adjustment (End Clearance)
- Tighten the bearing retainer until 6.8 N·m (60 lb in) is required to rotate the shaft with no shims. Measure the shim gap and add 0.33 mm (.013) in order to get the proper shim thickness. Assemble the shims and the retainer. Adjust to the following end play. ... 0.15 to 0.25 mm (.006 to .010 inch)
Clutch Engagement Check on the Engine
A torque of 325 to 435 N·m (239 to 320 lb ft) on the splined clutch lever shaft is required in order to engage the clutch.
