There are three methods the operator console system uses to bring the machine to a stop. If any of the three are applied, while the machine is in RC mode, the machine will stop:
- Apply the service brakes to slow the machine to a stop
- Engage the parking brake
- Shut down the engine

The Manual Override switch (6) is used as a safety precaution, if the machine is in RC pending and the manual override switch is pushed the machine will be placed in manual override. If the machine is in any other RC state and the button is pushed, the machine will move to RC idle. To return to RC run from idle, hold the horn button for 3 seconds.
When the Manual/Remote Mode switch (10) is in the REMOTE position, the only machine cab controls that will function are the service brakes, the lights, and the horn. All other cab controls will not function. When the Manual/Remote Mode switch (10) is in the MANUAL position, the machine cab control functions are restored for normal operation.
Note: The Manual/Remote Mode switch (10) provides a Lockout Tab which provides a way to lock out and tag out the remote control mode. The tab can be used as lock out for service or while the machine is being used in manual mode.

Operator Console Power Off / Commanded Stop switch (26), when pressed, will discontinue the RC session.
When the Operator Console Power Off / Commanded Stop switch (26) is pressed, the following occurs:
- Commanded Stop is sent to the machine immediately
Note: For the recommended Operator console shutdown procedure see the Operation Section, "Return to Manual Operation" chapter of this manual.

Implements will remain in position when the machine shuts down. Approach the machine with caution |
- Ensure the Machine Power / Engine Crank switch is in the OFF position.
- Press the Operator Console Power button (24) to turn off the Operator Console power.
When finished operating in remote control, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, M0085769, "Return to Manual Operation" section for Operator Console to return the machine to manual operation. By using the proper procedure all (key-on) machine power will be cut and the remote control session will be terminated. To recover the remote control session return to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, M0085769, "Before Operation" section for Operator Console and follow the startup procedure for the Operator Console system.
Software Stop (Complete/Immediate Shutdown)
The following situations will automatically disengage the remote control system and place the machine in a Complete/Immediate shutdown. In this state, the system immediately shuts down the engine, engages the parking brake, engages the implement lockout, and cuts power to the machine. To recover the remote control session return to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, M0085769, "Before Operation" section for Operator Console and follow the startup procedure for the Operator Console system.
NOTICE |

Implements will remain in position when the machine shuts down. Approach the machine with caution. |
- Pressing the Operator Console Power Off / Commanded Stop switch on the Operator Console (Immediate stop)
- Switching the Manual/Remote Mode switch, on the Ground Level Service Center, into manual mode. (Remote control system is powered down, Manual operation is restored)
- The Manual Override switch in the machine cab is placed in OVERRIDE (MANUAL) position
- The Operator Console is tilted beyond 45 degrees (Immediate stop)
Note: A sensor that is located inside the operator console monitors the level of the Operator Console. When the Operator Console is tilted beyond 45 degrees or dropped, the sensor triggers a Commanded Stop.
Software Stop (Safe Stop State)
The following situations will automatically disengage the remote control system and place the machine in a safe stopped state. In this state, the service brake is ramped to full, the parking brake is engaged, and the implement lockout is engaged prior to deactivating remote control. The engine speed is reduced to low idle and not shutdown in these cases:
- Receiver stops communicating with the operator console. (With a loss of connection, the machine will continue to operate for 1 second with the last known good command, then come to an immediate stop
- The wireless range, between the console and the receiver, is exceeded. (Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, M0085769, "Specifications" for Operator Console for range limits)
- The charge on the console battery is not sufficient to maintain proper power to the operator console. (acts as a loss of connection, the machine will continue to operate for 1 second with the last known good command. Then come to an immediate stop)
- Broken or shorted antenna, antenna cable, or antenna cable adapter
- Physical interference (Objects in between Operator Console and the machine)
- Other systems on site communicating in a similar frequency range
The highest level diagnostic or event present is determined from the RC System and all machine subsystem ECMs. If the highest level is 3, a Level 3 Stop is performed. Most Level 3 Stop conditions can be overridden for 30 seconds. The override is initiated by reactivating RC (holding the horn for 3 seconds). The implement and parking brake switch must be cycled to the engaged state before regaining the remote control override session. Full functionality can be regained only after the cause of the Level 3 Stop is resolved. To resume remote control operation, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, M0085769, "Before Operation" section for Operator Console and follow the startup procedure for the Operator Console system.
Note: Some Level 3 Stops will shut down the engine as a Software Stop (Complete/immediate shutdown) and are not recoverable.
Some level 3 events and diagnostics may occur and prevent machine operation. These events and diagnostics occur to prevent damage to the machine and others. An override may be activated for 30 seconds to move the machine to a safe state and gain access. The override may be activated by performing the following:
- Hold the horn button (25) on the operator console until the machines horn stops sounding (approximately 3 seconds).
- After the 30 second allowance has occurred, the sequence may be repeated.
