Brake release manifold (4) is mounted to the machine frame at the front of the operator station. The door at the front of the operator station provides access to this component.

Brake release manifold (4) contains hand pump (1), needle valve (3), brake pressure switch (5), and pressure tap (2). When the needle valve is closed, the hand pump can be used to release the parking brakes manually. Handle (6) for the hand pump is stored on a spring clip mounted on the frame next to the manifold.

Brake pressure switch (5) provides an input signal to the machine electronic control system. This switch engages when brake pressure is greater than 2000 kPa (290 psi). This switch releases when brake pressure is less than 15000 kPa (220 psi). The brake release pressure can be measured at pressure tap (2). If the brake pressure is low when the machine is commanded to move, the monitoring system alerts the operator by flashing the parking brake indicator. Low brake pressure causes increased brake wear.
