Start By:
- Remove the lubrication pump assembly.
- Drain the axle.

Note: Install caps and plugs on all openings to prevent dirt or debris from entering the system. Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
- Disconnect hose assembly (1).

91 kg (200 lb) . Remove bolts (6). Discard bolts (6). Position drive shaft (5). - Remove bolts (8). Discard bolts (8). Remove bearing and spider assembly (7).

- Place a suitable container for storage or for disposal of oil under the transmission and transfer gear. The container will catch trapped oil during the removal from the transmission and transfer gear.

- Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto transmission, transfer gears, and differential (11).

Illustration 8 g06295261 - Install Tooling (B) (not shown) at location (X). Location (X) occurs six times around the circumference of the transmission. Tooling (B) holds the differential and bevel gear to the transmission.
- Remove 26 full nuts (12) and the washers that hold the transmission in position.
- Remove two full nuts (13) and the washers that hold the differential and bevel gear to the rear axle housing.
- Remove the transmission, the transfer gears, and the differential from the machine. The weight of the transmission, transfer gears, and differential is
2223 kg (4900 lb) . - Remove the O-ring seal from the differential carrier assembly.
