Machine wake-up is used to provide timed entry and exit lighting and to reduce machine display boot up time. Wakeup of the machine triggers entry/exit step lighting, interior cab lighting, pre-boot of displays and sampling of fluid levels.
The key switch, the door switch opening, or the rear access switch activation are the means to trigger the machine wake-up system.
When the door is opened, the wake-up relay coil is energized and the relay is activated. Pin J1-1 on the Chassis ECM is then switched to battery through the door wake-up diode. At the same time the state of the door switch and the rear access switch is monitored by the Chassis ECM on pin J1-35 which is switched to ground. Then the cab dome light is turned ON by the Chassis ECM through pin J2-9.
If the door remains open for 10 minutes (default), the wake-up function is canceled and associated lighting and power devices are turned OFF.
If the door is closed OR the door has not been opened or closed and the LH rear access light switch has been activated, the wake-up function will continue for a 1 minute (default).
When the LH rear access light switch (momentary switch) is activated, the wake-up relay coil is energized and the relay is activated. Pin J1-1 on the Chassis ECM is then switched to battery through the door wake-up diode. At the same time the state of the door switch and the rear access switch is monitored by the Chassis ECM on pin J1-35 which is switched to ground. The Chassis ECM will then trigger the left-hand rear access platform light relay through pin J2-10 to turn the LH rear access light and the cab dome light is also turned ON by Chassis ECM through pin J2-9.
Key switch activation works the same as with previous Articulated Trucks, with the additional functionality that Machine Wake-up gets canceled. When machine wake-up is canceled by the key switch activation, the displays continue to power up and the LH rear access light and cab dome light turn OFF, unless they are still being activated by the LH rear access light switch or the door being left open. The key switch relay is triggered and system voltage is provided to the Chassis ECM on pin J2-1 through Fuse 1 (F1) and key switch wake-up diode.
When the door, rear access, or key switch is activated and the Chassis ECM pin J1-35 is grounded or pin J2-1 or J1-61 is switched to battery, pin J1-1 on the Chassis ECM is automatically activated providing 24 VDC to the following controllers: Secondary Display, Indication Display, Transmission ECM, Engine ECM, Aftertreatment ECM, and Payload ECM.
