All-Wheel Drive System Has Been Improved on Certain 14L Motor Graders {7000}

Description Of Change: A new two position switch control is now available for updating the All-Wheel Drive system on 14L Motor Graders. The procedure will simplify the operator controls for the All-Wheel Drive system.

Adaptable To: The update is adaptable to all 14L Motor Graders.

Installation Procedure

    Note: Permit only one person on the machine. Either keep others away from the machine, or keep other personnel in the sight of the operator

  1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from any machines that are working and any personnel

  2. Lower work tools to the ground.

  3. Move the transmission control to the "PARK" position.

  4. Activate the parking brake.

  5. Release the hydraulic pressure. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for instructions.

  6. Stop the engine.

  7. Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.

  8. Turn battery disconnect switch to "OFF" position.

  9. Remove both of the knobs (A) from all-wheel drive controls. Save parts for reuse.

  10. Remove four bolts (B) and washers (C) from all-wheel drive controls. Move the controls to access wiring harness. Disconnect controls from the wiring harness. Save parts for reuse.

  11. Remove nut (D) from all-wheel drive mode switch. Remove the switch from plate (E). Save parts for reuse.

  12. Remove two bolts (F) from the aggression switch. Remove the aggression switch (G) from the plate (H). Save parts for reuse.

  13. Move aggression dial (J) to the desired aggression.

    Note: The aggression of the All-Wheel Drive System will not be easily accessible once the pin assembly is removed.

  14. Remove pin assembly from the aggression switch.

  15. Install aggression switch (G) to the plate (H) with original hardware that were saved in Step 12.

  16. Remove connector from the existing all-wheel drive mode switch as shown in Illustration 7.

  17. Remove connector from 147-1402 Rotary Switch As.

  18. Install the connector that were saved in Step 16 on rotary switch assembly (1). Install wire from Pin 1 of the switch to position 1 of the connector. Install wire from Pin 2 to position 3 of the connector. Install wire from Pin 3 to position 4 of the connector. Install seal plug (2) to position 2 of the connector.

  19. Install rotary switch assembly (1) to the plate (E) with hardware that were saved Step 11.

  20. Remove the existing film (K) from the cover. Clean the cover to ensure new film will properly adhere to cover .

  21. Install film (3) to the cover .

  22. Connect all-wheel drive controls to the wiring harness. Install cover and controls to the cab with hardware that were saved in Step 10.

  23. Install the knob (A) to all-wheel drive mode switch.

  24. Turn the battery disconnect switch to "ON" position.

  25. Start the engine and run at low idle. Check for the all-wheel drive system for any issues. Correct any issues found prior to the machine returning to service.
