The screed is equipped with three vibratory motors (2). One vibratory motor is mounted on the main screed. A vibratory motor is also on each screed extender. The main screed vibratory motor is shown in the illustration.
Vibratory motor (1) is a gear-type hydraulic motor with a fixed displacement. The motors are driven in a single direction. Port "A" is the inlet port. Port "B" is the outlet port.
The vibratory motors drive eccentric weight units (1). The main vibratory motor drives a second weight unit through a drive shaft. The eccentric weight units cause vibration when the vibratory motors are rotating. The speed of the motors determines the vibration frequency. The vibration aids in the initial compaction of the mat, and can improve mat texture in certain mixes.
