Start By:

  1. Remove the rear axle.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to transmission (1). The weight of transmission (1) is approximately 29 kg (65 lb). Remove nuts (2). Remove transmission (1).

  2. Attach a suitable lifting device to final drive and carrier (3). The weight of final drive and carrier (3) is approximately 156 kg (344 lb). Remove bolts (4). Remove final drive and carrier (3).

  3. Remove axle shaft (5).

  4. Attach a suitable lifting device to axle housing (6). The weight of axle housing (6) is approximately 84 kg (185 lb). Attach axle housing (6) to Tooling (A). Remove bolts (7). Remove axle housing (6).

  5. Use Tooling (B) to remove bearing cup (8).

  7. Remove differential assembly (10).

  8. Use Tooling (B) to remove bearing cup (11). Remove shim (12).

  9. Use Tooling (C) to remove bearing cone (13) from the ring gear side of the differential.

  10. Use Tooling (C) to remove the bearing cone from the differential.

  11. Remove bolts (14) from differential case.

  12. Mark the position of differential case half (15) for assembly purposes. Remove differential case half (15).

  13. Remove thrust washer (16) from differential case half (15).

  14. Remove differential gears (17).

  15. Remove spider gear assembly (18) from differential case half (19).

  16. Remove thrust washer (20) from differential case half (19).

  17. Use a suitable press to separate differential case half (19) from ring gear (21).

  18. Remove spring pins (22) from differential case half (19).

  19. Remove thrust washers (23) and bevel gears (24) from spider (25).
