Note: Do not start the engine until the bellows assemblies have been aligned and the two strap assemblies and the two V- band clamps have been tightened to a final torque.

  10. If necessary, loosen four bolts (112) and four V-band clamps (113). Adjust four strap assemblies (114) for optimal lateral and axial alignment of the bellows assemblies using Tooling (A). Refer to Special Instruction, SEHS0323, "Instructions for the Proper Use of the Alignment Tool For the Installation of Exhaust Bellows on Certain 797F Off-Highway Trucks".

    NOTICE

Any misalignment in the system can potentially shorten the life of the bellows.

  11. Once the bellows, the exhaust tubes, and the muffler inlet tubes are aligned, tighten two V-band clamps (113) to a torque of 16 ± 4 Nm (142 ± 35 lb in). Tap the V-band clamps (22) all around then tighten to 16 ± 4 N·m (140 ± 35 lb in) again. Static inspection torque is a minimum of 9 N·m (80 lb in). Tighten four bolts (112) to a final torque.
