Introduction

This document includes instructions for installing the 484-8211 Switch Kit.

Do not perform any procedure in this publication or order any parts until you understand the information that is contained in this publication.

Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment.

To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.

Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.

  1. Paste film (10) onto the bracket (13) as shown in Illustration 1.

  2. Position the plate (1) on the bracket (13).

  3. Align the disconnect switch (3) onto the bracket (13).

    (A) 2H-3922 Lockwashers
    (B) 8H-5303 Nut

  4. Secure the switch (3) onto the bracket (13) using two lockwashers (A) on either side of the bracket, and one nut (B), which are part of switch (3).

    Note: Torque nut to 25 ± 3 N·m (18.44 ± 2.21 lb ft).

  5. Secure the cable (12) onto the switch (3) using lockwasher (C) and nut (D), which are part of switch (3).

    Note: Torque nut to 18.5 ± 1.5 N·m (13.64 ± 1.1 lb ft)

    Note: Use backup wrench on hex at base of stud while tightening.

  6. Secure cable (11) onto the switch (3) using lockwasher (C) and nut (D), which are part of switch (3).

    Note: Torque nut to 16 ± 2 N·m (11.8 ± 1.5 lb ft)

  7. Secure harness (9) onto the bracket (13) using the grommet which is part of the harness.

  8. Secure the Bracket - Switch assembly onto the Tower Sheet using two bolts (8).

    Note: Tighten to 25 ± 5 N·m (18.4 ± 3.7 lb ft)

  9. Secure the cable (12) onto the frame stud (E) using washer (4) and nut (5).

  10. Secure the cable (12) onto the negative terminal of the battery (G) as shown in Illustration 10 using clamp (F), which is a part of the cable (12).

    Note: Tighten to 7.2 ± 1.6 N·m (5.3 ± 1.2 lb ft)

  11. Secure cables (11) and (12) using one P-clip (7) onto frame tower sheet using bolt (8) and washer (6).

  12. Remove cap (H) from the receptacle (J) which is part of the harness (K).

  13. Insert the receptacle (L) which is part of harness (9) onto the receptacle (J).
