- Verify that there is no crown in the main screed.
- Place Tool (A) across the width of main screed plate (8) approximately 25.4 mm (1 inch) behind the leading edge.
- Place two of Tool (B) between Tool (A) and the screed plate. Locate each Tool (B) approximately 25.4 mm (1 inch) from the ends of main screed plate (8) .

- Use a third Tool (B) as a gauge in order to check the gap between main screed plate (8) and Tool (A). This check should be taken below each adjuster. Check from the outer edges of the main screed plate to the center of the main screed plate.
- If the trailing edge of the main screed plate is flat and straight, go to Step 9. If the trailing edge of the main screed plate is not flat and straight, go to "Adjustment Procedure", "Trailing Edge Adjustment".
- Remove tooling.
