Description of Change: The dampers will help control the descent of the access panels near the belly guard. The installation of the dampers will improve the service life of the struts on the access panels.

Adaptable To: The new 463-2285 Dampers are now part of the following groups: 350-8012 Sound Suppression Panel Gp, 351-7471 Sound Suppression Panel Gp, 361-2001 Sound Suppression Panel Gp and 397-3556 Sound Suppression Panel Gp

The new 463-2285 Dampers are adaptable to the machines and effective in production with the machines listed in Table 1.

The earlier machines can be updated to the latest configuration. The complete list of material and the correct procedure needed to update the sound suppression panel groups to the current configuration is available. The required parts are listed in the above listed special instruction, and the update procedure is explained in the above listed special instruction. The special instruction can be found on the Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS). The special instruction is also available through the normal literature distribution system at your local Cat ^© dealer.
