PROBLEM
Certain 3500 HD Reman Cylinder Packs may contain a 3500 SD connecting rod. If certain Reman Cylinder Packs are installed it will cause excessive smoke and rough idle. |
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect all 10R4029, 10R9267, 20R0582, 20R0583, and 20R5616 Reman Cylinder Packs in dealer stock. Inspect the date on the box for the Reman Cylinder Pack. If the date is not 13 Nov 2017 through 16 Feb 2018, then mark the package as inspected per this program and return the part back into dealer parts stock. If the date is 13 Nov 2017 through 16 Feb 2018, then inspect the connecting rod in the Reman Cylinder Pack. These Reman Cylinder Pack part numbers require an HD rod with an oil passage. Please refer to Image1 for an example of a pack with an incorrect rod. The rod in Image1 should include an oil passage in the location shown. If the connecting rod has an oil passage through the connecting rod beam, then mark the package as inspected per this program and return the part back into dealer parts stock. If the connecting rod does not have an oil passage through the connecting rod beam, then remove the Reman Cylinder Pack from dealer parts stock. Refer to the Parts Disposition. |
